Our Story

HWY1 is a fast-casual destination for fresh, Baja-inspired food that captures the rugged spirit of Mexico’s Highway 1. We serve bold bowls, burritos, and nachos in a space that evokes dusty roadside stops, vintage signs, and the freedom of the open road.

Our Philosophy

We believe good food should be bold, bright, and built with purpose. At HWY1, that means sourcing fresh ingredients, celebrating vibrant flavors, and giving you the freedom to make every meal your own. No fluff, no fuss—just craveable, quality food made fast and served with a side of laid-back energy.

The Experience

Step inside HWY1 and you’ll feel like you’ve pulled off the road into something special. The space is sun-faded and surf-worn in all the right ways—equal parts retro and raw. It’s a choose-your-own-adventure kind of place: grab a quick bite, linger with friends, or fuel up between classes. No matter how you ride, the vibe is always chill.

Visit Us

You’ll find us right in the heart of Madison’s Monroe Street neighborhood—just down the road from the UW Arboretum and Camp Randall. Whether you’re a local, a student, or just cruising through, HWY1 is your spot for fast, fresh food in one of Madison’s most walkable, welcoming neighborhoods. Parking is available in both Knickerbocker Place parking lots, or there's plenty of street parking, too.
